Racism Still Reigns

Today was kind of a sleeping in day... I was struck by the feeling when u get when school's about to start... Depression is too strong a word but relief is certainly not an understatement too... After a pleasant holiday, one more day to go start my routine all over again... Well I guess the holidays were fun while it lasted... And as always, life goes on..i guess...

Today for the very first time, after watchin this Great movie "CRASH", I was inspired to talk about racism and prejudice... To start off, here's a catch phrase which most people are familiar to... "Don't judge a book by a cover"... Being that I am of mixed race(chinese& indian), proudly said... I guess it would be fair for me to say that I am fully aware of racism in this so called civilized world... Even though racism isn't as harsh as it was 5 decades ago, nevertheless, it still exists...clearly and blatantly too(if I may say)... Most people think racism is a story of the past...whereas, they who say that are dead WRONG...

Most people of the modernized countries, suggests countries such as Malaysia do not consist of the word racism... True, Malaysia might be a peaceful country...well for the most part... However, racism is not just about wars or bloodfests... When someone walks up to a Chinese guy and says "Hey, you're Chinese, how do you do this Math question?" ... Is that not racism? Is that not stereotypical judgement according to mere race? What about when an Indian guy riding a fancy motorcycle is automatically thought to be a gang member or some sought... Isn't that a self-evident fact of racism?

A black man walking down the street dressed as, what some people think as a thug, is immediately discriminated by other races? Some people might say thats because they look like a thug... but if it were a popular rockstar of some sought dressed the same way, the clothes would instantaneously evolve to a new trend amongst teeenagers... Aren't all these self-explanatory acts of insignificant racism and prejudice against race?

Obligations

Today wasn't as boring as the past week... Cleaning the house occupied my vacant time... Now this is what you call a clean house....at least compared to before... Well... after seeing the sad incidents of the world... It inspired me to write about OBLIGATIONS...

What is obligation? It is (according to a dictionary) "The act of binding oneself by a social, legal, or moral tie" or as we know it... a sense of duty... As human beings, young or old, obligations apply to all of us... It's up to us to fulfill those duties by any means logical...

As a student, my obligations are shouted out loud and clear; study smart and get good grades... those are, in fact, the basic duties of a student... As a son, brother, cousin, grandchild and so on... my obligations are to love and respect my family as they would me... As a true friend, my obligations are to assist, help and care for my friends when they most need it... My duties as a friend are mostly to laugh together, fight together and offer a shoulder for a friend to cry on...when needed...We all know those of the basic obligations... However, do we... do we TRULY understand the depth of ones obligations as a human being, as a creation and miracle of God, as a part of this world??? Now thats the question we should be asking ourselves...

Are we not, as human beings, responsible for the well-being of our mother earth? If not, who is? If not, do we truly deserve to live at all? Are we not, as human beings, responsible for the well-being of others? If not, are we not savages? If not, shouldn't we be known as rapacious uncivilized barbarians instead of humans? Are we not all born to be equal, despite color or race? If not, who has the right to be reigned the king of people? God is our one and only true King... and, as humans, our obligation to God is to love, respect and to worship God, but mostly to appreciate His creations of where we live in, on, and around... and by doing so, thus, devoting and maybe even dedicating ourselves to protecting His miraculous creations of nature and even HUMANS... all humans, not just the rich ones, or the so called "normal" ones....but the poor, ill, sick, dying ones too....despite all odds...

Whats Happening to our World?

Another day goes by... the whole day was like any other day....until 2 minutes ago... where i received an e-mail from a friend of mine... Nothing to be proud of...but I have to write about this... I actually got an e-mail which in it had a picture of a starving young child....and i mean starving since he was born... who was crawling to the ....well, at least tryin to crawl to the united nation food camp which was probably more than a mile away...

This is a sad case of inhumanity... deprived and starving is an understatement compared to the size, shape and condition of this poor little kid... This picture killed the photographer... the unfortunate man who had taken this picture killed himself a month after he saw the kid... an african kid (from the looks of it) who is around 5-10 years old... was in a state where the size of the child is dimunitive compared to an average child... tiny, pathetic, a miniature... Unfortunately, the picture was taken with a vulture waiting right behind the boy (who had his head between his legs and crawling with with his elbows)... The vulture was patiently waiting for the young boy, who was prey to the vulture, to be deceased... The young boy was never to be seen or heard from after the currently dead photographer took a photograph and left him there to die...

What has happened to this world of ours? Why is he isolated or excluded? It is not of human nature to allow any man to die in such a crude way... Is he not human just like the rest of us? Is he not made of flesh and bones? Does he not deserve the right of life just like we do? Is he not a miracle and creation of God? Is he not a child from a mother's womb? What makes him so deviating that causes him to be shun and discriminated? Why must he live and die in such anguish and agony while the rest of us sit here and watch? Does the world not care about each other any more? Is the world made up of such selfish and gluttenous people? Do we, as humans, not care about the life and well-being of others?

Friendships

Yesterday, I finally took my second and last final exam... I might have screwed up that long dull 87 question paper... On the second hand, I hope not... For the past week, besides a couple of finals,it has been a freakin drag... Every day and night just sitting and waiting for some mere entertainment or enjoyment to overcome my tedious bore dome... but anyhow life goes on...

As for writing today's post, I was in a daze for a moment or two thinking about what to write about today... and as I sat blurly, a thought rushed through my head... I began to daydream about friendship... the reasons of friendships and, unfortunately, the reasons of friendships "gone bad"... First of all, friendship is (in the dictionary) defined as the quality or condition of being friends... Or as we common people understand it as friends relationship... friends can be brought together by various reasons... For one, a common enemy; just as they have always said... " An enemy's enemy is a friend "... Some friendships however, can be made from pure affectionate companionship to amiability and even to familiarity...

Friendships "gone bad" on the other hand, are made up of a thousand and one reasons... starting with, the most common enemy of friendship, an opposing interest... or even worse, several opposing interests... however, this does not apply to all friendships... some friends are imune to the interests of one another... For most of the modern generation's younger teens... a common interest...yes, thats right... a common interest... to be more specific, for those of you who are in a fuddle, a common lover... Apparently, nowadays, the worst situation most teens can go through is where they have a "crush" on the same person as their best friend... Not only does that bring friends apart, it could cause conflicts, wars or could even cause a freaking bloodshed if handled badly... Finally, the most passive way of separating friends... gradual decay... Being a student out of my hometown, gradual decay is something I hoped that wouldn't happen...but unfortunately, it does... yes, it does... a long absence of a companion could sometimes (not always) cause the friend to be somewhat replaced by another... Sad, but true...
It is human nature to experience this Uncertainty Of Friendship...

The Extend of Honor

Well... considering the pathetic fact that I do not have anything to do... I thought, what the heck, might as well write a new post... and as i was well wasting my time watching "Everybody Loves Raymonds"... It had got me thinking about the 5th commandment... and for those of you'll who are not at all familiar with the 10 commandments, the 5th one; and i quote "Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you."

HONOR....isn't that too strong a word but has anyone ever stopped for a brief moment and wondered what is the extend of honor or maybe even dishonor? What is the alpha and omega of dishonor? Where does it begin or where does it end? What makes an act dishonorable? Is it ethics or moral values which aggresively concerns this topic?

People say don't steal, it's not honorable... but what if... what if a brother does not have the priviledge of an option... What if an innocent parentless young boy who is stealing for the sake of his sick, barely surviving sister... A 6 year old boy of lacking age to work has a severely ill sister who hasnt had food in days... and in addition, the harsh mortals of the modern days seldom offer charity... unfortunately, the kid is obliged in a way to take care of his sister, despite the odds... In desperate times, the kid steals for his ill sister... According to the law, there are no anomalisms or sympathy in the grasp of justice...However, in terms of honor, isn't this kid one of the heroes of this corrupted and selfish generation? This kid risks himself as to please his starving sister... Does that satisfy the terms of a dishonorable act?
People say don't lie, it's not honorable... but what if...what if a friend is compelled to lie... What if a person has to lie to her best friend's psychotic, abusive father about his daughter's whereabouts to avoid her best friend from being physically abused... Some might say that it is a case of a white lie... others say that is complete crap... White lie or not.... Does that satisfy the terms of a dishonorable act?

What is the extend of honor and dishonor???

What Inpires Love?

Life goes on...as they say... again another day partly wasted doing absolutely nothing. The other part was "well" wasted watchin tv... Having no responsibilities and obligations can sometimes be a bad thing..knowing that you dont have to do anything, there is just nothing much to be done...

I was reading through this poem that was written by a friend of mine... to her "one and only" soul mate... and the poem actually expressed her love to her soul mate... Love can be such a strong word... Love can bring people together and yet, at the same time tear people apart ; provoke wars, fights and arguements... What Inspires Love? What is the cause of all this havoc and mayhem? What causes the chemistry, as some might say, between people? Is it mere lust? or is it a sense of security? How is this feeling aroused? What is made of this feeling, this sensation called love? I have been told over and over again that love is a door just waiting to be opened by the right person... Does that mean we all should just wait for Love to come upon us? Well, some have already found their perfect match...while the rest are just waiting for the right man/women to start knocking on their doors... And if and when they do, what signs are supposed to indicate the right person, the perfect match, the "right one"?? Well, first of all, I for one think if love is inpired merely by lust, it is not love...in fact, that is just pure pleasure and entertainment... Nevertheless, love should be encouraged and aroused by affection, appreciation, passion, friendship, admiration and devotion... As to what is made of this feeling...well... I guess my time will come to experience and explain this feeling and sensation of love... Soon...but not yet....not quite yet...

What Is Life?

This seems to be my first experience to blog... Today, Life goes on as it is, just like any other day, nothing in particular... I finally got the chance to clean up the house a little...after two long busy weeks...I finally get to sit down, relax and unwind...

As I was walking down the street to 7-11 today... I see this tiny insect that looked unique, special, distinct and maybe even disturbing in a way... Although I am not proud of it, the fact remains...I am not a fan of insects...However, this insect somehow caught my attention... I had to pause my motion for a moment just for the sake of lookin at this deceased insect... It were as if the very life and soul of it had been ripped out of this feeble creature... Watching the insect helplessly gasping for the breath of life got me thinking... WHAT IS LIFE? To many of you, life is just a word. Life is no more than a common word created by man but what is life? Is life having been able to experience pain, anguish and suffering or is life a journey of empathy and sympathy or is life just another word from the dictionary or bible?
Most people might say that I am not old or experienced enough to be reviewing this topic... However, I have my own personal point of view about life itself. According to most teachers, professers and philosophers, life is an instrument of God(as some might say)...No arguements about that... However, what I don't fully appreciate is their lame definition of life... Life is defined as "intervals between birth and death" ... Personally, I think that is all just mere crap... Life is about vitality, the mere existence of a soul... birth and death is just another phase of life... no more, no less...
