Well... considering the pathetic fact that I do not have anything to do... I thought, what the heck, might as well write a new post... and as i was well wasting my time watching "Everybody Loves Raymonds"... It had got me thinking about the 5th commandment... and for those of you'll who are not at all familiar with the 10 commandments, the 5th one; and i quote "Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you."
HONOR....isn't that too strong a word but has anyone ever stopped for a brief moment and wondered what is the extend of honor or maybe even dishonor? What is the alpha and omega of dishonor? Where does it begin or where does it end? What makes an act dishonorable? Is it ethics or moral values which aggresively concerns this topic?
People say don't steal, it's not honorable... but what if... what if a brother does not have the priviledge of an option... What if an innocent parentless young boy who is stealing for the sake of his sick, barely surviving sister... A 6 year old boy of lacking age to work has a severely ill sister who hasnt had food in days... and in addition, the harsh mortals of the modern days seldom offer charity... unfortunately, the kid is obliged in a way to take care of his sister, despite the odds... In desperate times, the kid steals for his ill sister... According to the law, there are no anomalisms or sympathy in the grasp of justice...However, in terms of honor, isn't this kid one of the heroes of this corrupted and selfish generation? This kid risks himself as to please his starving sister... Does that satisfy the terms of a dishonorable act?
People say don't lie, it's not honorable... but what if...what if a friend is compelled to lie... What if a person has to lie to her best friend's psychotic, abusive father about his daughter's whereabouts to avoid her best friend from being physically abused... Some might say that it is a case of a white lie... others say that is complete crap... White lie or not.... Does that satisfy the terms of a dishonorable act?
What is the extend of honor and dishonor???
